In a stunning twist that has Washington buzzing with shock and suspicion, former President Bill Clinton has finally broken his long silence on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal—firing a direct shot at the Trump administration for what his team calls a calculated manipulation of the newly released files.

Just days after the Justice Department dropped thousands of documents heavy with decades-old photos of Clinton alongside Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, his spokesperson accused officials of selectively highlighting his images while shielding others from scrutiny. “Someone or something is being protected,” the statement declared, demanding the immediate release of every remaining record mentioning Clinton. “We need no such protection.”

The clash exposes raw tensions over power, transparency, and lingering shadows from Epstein’s web of influence—who exactly is the selective rollout guarding, and why?

Washington is buzzing with shock and suspicion following former President Bill Clinton’s rare decision to break his long silence on the Jeffrey Epstein case. In a strong statement, Clinton’s spokesperson directly accused the Trump administration of calculated manipulation in the release of newly disclosed documents related to Epstein—the notorious sex trafficker who died in prison in 2019.

The controversy erupted just days after the Department of Justice (DOJ) released thousands of documents, including numerous decades-old photos showing Bill Clinton with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell—Epstein’s accomplice, currently serving a 20-year sentence. The images depict Clinton relaxing by the pool, on Epstein’s private jet, or at social gatherings. Clinton’s spokesperson, Angel Ureña, alleged that the DOJ under President Donald Trump selectively highlighted Clinton’s images while shielding information about others.

“Someone or something is being protected,” the statement emphasized. “We need no such protection. We demand that the DOJ immediately release all remaining documents mentioning Bill Clinton, including photos, interrogation records, and any related notes.” Ureña also criticized the release method—timed for the weekend with heavy redactions—as an attempt to imply guilt on Clinton, despite the DOJ under multiple administrations (both Democratic and Republican) confirming he had no involvement in Epstein’s crimes.

The issue stems from the Epstein Files Transparency Act, passed nearly unanimously by Congress and signed into law by President Trump in November 2025. The act requires the DOJ to release all non-classified Epstein records by the December 2025 deadline. However, the initial release on December 19 was only partial, with thousands of pages heavily redacted, drawing criticism from both parties. Lawmakers like Thomas Massie (Republican) and Ro Khanna (Democrat)—co-sponsors of the bill—expressed disappointment over the DOJ’s delays, potentially violating the law.

Clinton has long maintained that he only met Epstein a few times in the 1990s and 2000s for charitable activities, always accompanied by Secret Service agents, and severed ties in 2005 when Epstein’s crimes emerged. He has never been accused of any wrongdoing. In contrast, Clinton’s spokesperson implied that the Trump administration is using him as a “scapegoat” to divert attention from Trump’s own past social ties to Epstein—the two were acquaintances in New York and Palm Beach circles.

President Trump has repeatedly attacked Clinton over Epstein, even calling for a separate investigation. But recently, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles admitted to Vanity Fair that Trump was “mistaken” in claiming Clinton visited Epstein’s private island. Trump himself appears in some older documents, though the DOJ stresses there is no evidence of wrongdoing.

The clash reveals deep tensions in Washington over power, transparency, and the lingering shadows of Epstein’s influence network: Who exactly is this selective release protecting, and why?

Epstein’s victims—through their lawyers—also demand full disclosure to uncover the truth, while some documents are redacted to protect victim identities. So far, the DOJ promises further releases in the coming weeks, but the controversy shows no signs of abating. Who is truly being “protected”? And why has the release been so selective? The dark shadows from Epstein’s web of influence continue to haunt America’s elite, prompting the public to question the accountability of the nation’s most powerful figures.
