The Photo That Won’t Fade: New Epstein Files Undermine Andrew’s Denials as Giuffre’s Posthumous Memoir Reignites Scrutiny

A single, grainy photograph from March 2001—showing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (then Prince Andrew) with his arm around the waist of 17-year-old Virginia Giuffre, Ghislaine Maxwell smiling in the background—has haunted British royalty for over two decades. Newly released documents from the U.S. Department of Justice (December 2025) include a July 2011 email from Jeffrey Epstein himself: “Yes she [Giuffre] was on my plane and yes she had her picture taken with Andrew.” The message, sent to a publicist, directly contradicts Andrew’s 2019 BBC Newsnight claim that he had “no recollection” of the photo being taken and suggested it might have been “doctored.”

Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most prominent survivors until her suicide in April 2025, alleged in sworn testimony and her posthumous memoir Nobody’s Girl (published October 2025) that she was trafficked by Epstein and Maxwell to Andrew for sex on three occasions in 2001—at Maxwell’s London home, Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse, and Little St. James island. She described Andrew as “friendly enough, but still entitled—as if he believed having sex with me was his birthright.” The book, co-authored with Amy Wallace, expands on coercion, abuse, and the “glee” Epstein took in parading victims before powerful figures who “watched and didn’t care.”

The 2025–2026 file drops—mandated by the Epstein Files Transparency Act (signed November 2025)—include photos of Andrew at Epstein-linked events, emails showing continued contact post-2010 (despite his claims otherwise), and references to his presence during interactions involving victims. Prosecutors noted evidence Andrew “engaged in sexual conduct” with one of Epstein’s victims, though no criminal charges followed. Andrew settled Giuffre’s 2021 civil lawsuit out-of-court in February 2022 for an undisclosed sum (estimated £3–12 million), with no admission of wrongdoing and a donation to her charity. King Charles stripped him of his “prince” title and Royal Lodge residence in October 2025 amid renewed pressure from the memoir and files.

The releases—thousands of pages, heavily redacted—feature Andrew in multiple contexts: reclining across laps at Sandringham (watched by Maxwell), emails pleading with Epstein to deny allegations (“I can’t take any more of this”), and requests for “inappropriate friends.” Critics, including bipartisan lawmakers like Reps. Ro Khanna and Marjorie Taylor Greene, accuse the DOJ of slow-walking full disclosure despite the Act’s 30-day mandate.

Giuffre’s death amplified calls for justice; her family and advocates demand unredacted files to expose enablers. Andrew’s denials persist—no charges, no criminal conviction—but the photo, now authenticated by Epstein’s own words, remains a symbol of unaccounted power. As more batches emerge, the question persists: How long can elite silence withstand mounting evidence?

Here are key visuals from the 2025 releases: the infamous 2001 photo of Andrew with Giuffre and Maxwell, plus additional unsealed images showing Andrew in Epstein-linked settings.
