She was just 17, wide-eyed and hopeful, stepping into the glittering world of Parisian modeling when Jean-Luc Brunel—fashion’s powerful scout and Jeffrey Epstein’s close ally—promised fame, photoshoots, and a bright future. Instead, she awoke in terror to find him on top of her, the start of repeated assaults in the City of Light.

French authorities’ probe into Epstein’s network has spotlighted at least three accusers who allege abuse in Paris, lured through Brunel’s agencies with dreams of catwalks, only to be exploited, drugged, and trafficked. Victims describe being groomed in luxury apartments, supplied to Epstein’s circle, their ordeals spanning years before Brunel’s 2020 arrest on rape and trafficking charges—charges that ended abruptly with his prison suicide in 2022.

These women’s courage reveals how Paris became a dark hub in Epstein’s global web, with justice still elusive.

This harrowing account echoes testimonies from multiple women who encountered Brunel through his prominent agencies, such as Karin Models and later MC2 Model Management, which Epstein reportedly helped finance. Brunel, a towering figure in the industry for decades, lured aspiring models—often teenagers—with dreams of catwalk success, only to exploit their vulnerability in luxury apartments across Paris.

French authorities opened a major investigation in 2019 following Epstein’s arrest in the US, focusing on potential crimes in France linked to his network. The probe targeted Brunel as a central figure, accused of rape of minors, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and human trafficking of minors for sexual exploitation. Prosecutors alleged he organized the transport and accommodation of young girls and women for Epstein, supplying victims to his circle. Court documents and survivor statements describe grooming in opulent settings, drugging, and repeated abuse, with some victims trafficked internationally.

At least six former models have publicly detailed their ordeals with Brunel in Paris during the 1980s, 1990s, and beyond, as reported in investigations by The Guardian and others. One woman recounted being raped by Brunel after he was entrusted with her care as her agent. Others described assaults that left lasting trauma, their modeling careers derailed by the exploitation. Virginia Giuffre, a key Epstein accuser, alleged Brunel procured underage girls for Epstein, some on model visas, and that she herself was forced into encounters with him. Brunel denied all allegations.

The French inquiry intensified after Brunel’s arrest in December 2020 at Charles de Gaulle Airport as he attempted to flee. He was charged with rape of minors over 15 and sexual harassment, and placed in pretrial detention. Investigators examined his role in Epstein’s operations, including claims he supplied over a thousand young women to Epstein for sex—a figure cited in some US documents. Epstein, who frequently visited Paris and maintained properties there, died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial.

Brunel’s life ended abruptly in February 2022 when he was found hanged in his Paris prison cell, an apparent suicide that mirrored Epstein’s fate and denied victims the chance to see him face justice in court. The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed the death amid ongoing probes into rape and trafficking charges.

These women’s courage in coming forward has exposed how Paris, a global capital of fashion and glamour, served as a dark hub in Epstein’s international web of abuse. Brunel’s agencies provided a veneer of legitimacy, masking systematic grooming and exploitation of aspiring models drawn by promises of stardom. The scandal highlights vulnerabilities in the modeling industry, where power imbalances enabled predation for years.

With Brunel deceased and the French investigation’s momentum slowed by his suicide, many questions linger about full accountability. Survivors continue to seek recognition and healing, their stories a stark reminder of how dreams of fame were twisted into nightmares in the heart of one of the world’s most elegant cities.
