Sky Roberts’ Outrage Over Redacted Epstein Files: A Betrayal of Survivors’ Trust
In a powerful display of grief and frustration, Sky Roberts, brother of the late Virginia Giuffre—one of Jeffrey Epstein’s most prominent accusers—has accused the Department of Justice of “gaslighting” survivors with its heavily redacted release of Epstein-related files on December 19, 2025. Roberts described the partial disclosure as deeply disappointing, estimating that only about 10% of the DOJ’s holdings were made public, with much of that already known or blacked out extensively.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act mandated full release by the deadline, allowing redactions primarily for victim privacy or ongoing investigations. However, critics, including lawmakers like Rep. Robert Garcia and Rep. Ro Khanna, argue the DOJ fell short, with entire documents—like a 119-page New York grand jury transcript—completely redacted. Roberts expressed “mixed feelings,” crediting some progress but lamenting the lack of transparency that leaves survivors feeling betrayed once again.
Giuffre, who died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41, had fought tirelessly for justice, detailing her alleged trafficking in lawsuits and her posthumous memoir. Her family, including Roberts and sister-in-law Amanda Roberts, had hoped the files would expose enablers in Epstein’s elite network. Instead, the omissions—potentially shielding “politically exposed persons”—have fueled accusations of protecting the powerful.
Survivors and advocates view this as a continuation of systemic failures, where promises crumble into excuses. With thousands of pages still withheld and more releases promised on a rolling basis, demands grow for accountability, including potential legal action against DOJ officials. Roberts’ fury underscores a broader pain: years after Epstein’s death, victims seek not just files, but reckoning.
As hidden records remain locked, questions persist—who are the redactions safeguarding, and will full truth ever emerge? For families like the Roberts, this partial release feels like another wound in an unhealed saga.
