Hiding behind the cryptic alias “The Invisible Man,” a mysterious sender signing emails simply as “A” reached out to Ghislaine Maxwell from the heart of Balmoral Castle in 2001, casually asking: “Have you found me some new inappropriate friends?”

Freshly unsealed Epstein documents expose this chilling correspondence, where “A” shares intimate royal details—a recent Royal Navy retirement, the sudden death of a lifelong valet, even a burnt toast fire scare—that map perfectly onto the life of Britain’s fallen royal, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Later exchanges see Maxwell arranging “discreet and fun” girls for his Peru trip, even naming him directly.

Once a prince, now stripped of titles amid endless Epstein scrutiny, these revelations strip away the last veils of secrecy. But with thousands more pages still emerging, how much deeper does this web go?

Hiding behind the cryptic alias “The Invisible Man,” a sender signing emails simply as “A” contacted Ghislaine Maxwell from Balmoral Castle in August 2001, casually inquiring: “Have you found me some new inappropriate friends?”

These exchanges, part of a massive trove of over 11,000 pages unsealed by the U.S. Department of Justice on December 23, 2025, reveal intimate details that align precisely with the life of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the disgraced former Prince Andrew. The sender describes being at “Balmoral Summer Camp for the Royal Family,” complaining of exhausting daily activities that leave both himself and “The Girls”—presumed to be daughters Beatrice and Eugenie—fatigued. He mentions mourning the recent death of a lifelong valet who had served since childhood and adjusting to life after retiring from the Royal Navy (“RN”) in July 2001.

Contemporary reports confirm these events: Mountbatten-Windsor’s valet died shortly before the email, leaving him devastated during his Balmoral stay. Even a minor fire scare from burnt toast during a family breakfast matches the timeline. The “Invisible Man” alias appears in Jeffrey Epstein’s contacts linked to the “Duke of York,” Mountbatten-Windsor’s former title.

Maxwell, currently serving 20 years for sex trafficking, replied teasingly: “So sorry to disappoint you, however the truth must be told. I have only been able to find appropriate friends.”

The correspondence extends to 2002, with Maxwell arranging aspects of a Peru trip. Emails forward messages from a contact discussing discreet meetings with “girls” described as “intelligent, pretty, fun, and from good families,” alongside “two-legged sightseeing” and emphasis on privacy. One message explicitly states she gave “Andrew” a phone number for the Nazca Lines visit. Mountbatten-Windsor made an official trip to Peru in March 2002.

Major outlets, including The Guardian, BBC, The New York Times, and CNN, have analyzed the details and concluded the sender is almost certainly Mountbatten-Windsor. The emails employ coded language but highlight the depth of his relationship with Maxwell and Epstein’s network during a period when allegations were emerging.

The Balmoral email came months after Virginia Giuffre’s claims that she was trafficked and forced into sexual encounters with Mountbatten-Windsor at age 17—allegations he has denied. In 2022, he settled a civil lawsuit with Giuffre out of court without admitting liability.

Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied wrongdoing, stating he never suspected or witnessed improper behavior in Epstein’s circle. His representatives have not commented on this release. Documents also show U.S. authorities sought to interview him in 2020 as a potential witness or participant, though no charges followed.

Once a prominent royal, Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of titles, military roles, and public duties amid the scandal. He lives in isolation from the royal family, which maintains distance. The unsealed files illuminate personal ties within Epstein’s circle involving high-profile figures, underscoring ongoing questions about privilege and accountability.

While not proving criminality, the revelations strip away layers of secrecy surrounding one of the most enduring controversies tied to Epstein’s operation.
